The members of the CBU IEEE Branch attended IEEE SoutheastCon 2017 in Charlotte, NC on March 30-April 2, 2017. Raymond (Trey) McGinnis placed third in the paper/presentation competition with his paper Teaching Digital Logic Through Video Games, Melissa Dollar placed third in the T-Shirt design competition, and Elizabeth Hayes and Adam Crawford advanced to the semi-final round in the ethics team competition. Others teams attending were Katherine Bollinger and Ian Dover on the software competition team; Giovanti Palacio, Melissa Dollar, Brian McGinnis, Jill Johnson, Adam Crawford, Connor Meeks and Abin Joshy on the robotic competition team; and Elizabeth Hayes and Ian Dover on the web site completion team. There are over over 100 electrical engineering schools in the southeast who attend the conference each year and CBU has placed in the top three in the paper competition in 32 of the 57 years that CBU has competed.
