Matt Condren (ECE and CS ’09), David James (ECE and CS ‘09), John Waldorf (ECE and CS ‘09), and Thien Truong (ECE ’09) placed 6th in the robotic competition out of 38 schools who qualified at the IEEE SoutheastCon 2009 conference held in Atlanta, GA on March 5-8. The objective of the competition is for the robots to locate, obtain, sort, and store used beverage products. All sorting and storage is to be done on the robot. Points are awarded for the collected objects at the end of the round. Some points will be awarded for unsorted items; however, more points will be awarded for correctly sorted items. The winners will be judged on points with run time being the tiebreaker. The CBU team was leading at the end of first of the four rounds.
